Disturbance and indirect effects of climate warming support a plant invader in mountains

چکیده
Climate warming and increased disturbance (resulting from intensified land use) are expected to enhance the invasibility of plant communities performance exotic species also at high elevations, thus pose additional threats mountain ecosystems. The invasion success introduced genotypes will depend on their degree pre-adaption elevation climatic conditions, which may vary intra-specifically across source populations. For populations currently spreading in lowlands, climate might reduce distance high-elevation sites remove a barrier upwards spread. Here, we investigated various facets invasions single, integrative experimental study. We applied community transplant approach between high- low-elevation European Alps address effects through use Senecio inaequidens, potential future invader Alps. Additionally, served as common gardens test influence pre-adaptation current (high site) (low conditions S. inaequidens transplanted communities. 16 invasive central western population locations covered wide geographic range, amplitude distances presumed our gardens. Our results attest strong effect disturbance, invasibility, promoted species. Contrary expectation, experimentally induced did not increase invasibility. However, was positively related promote by reducing ranges

The Effects of Global Warming on Mountains
Mountain regions are characterized by sensitive ecosystems, enhanced occurrences of extreme weather events and natural catastrophes; they are also regions of conflicting interests between economic development and environmental conservation. Once regarded as hostile and economically nonviable regions, mountains have in the latter part of the twentieth century attracted major economic investments...
متن کاملcritical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language
since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

abstract reception environment has considerable effects on accepting a translation. as the expectations of a target culture and its values and needs change throughout history, its criteria for accepting a translation or rejecting it will change accordingly (gentzler, 2001). the expectations of iran, as the reception environment in the present study, have changed after the islamic revolution. i...
Climate change in mountains: a review of elevation-dependent warming and its possible causes
Available observations suggest that some mountain regions are experiencing seasonal warming rates that are greater than the global land average. There is also evidence from observational and modeling studies for an elevation-dependent climate response within some mountain regions. Our understanding of climate change in mountains, however, remains challenging owing to inadequacies in observation...
متن کاملBVOCs: plant defense against climate warming?
Plants emit a substantial amount of biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) into the atmosphere. These BVOCs represent a large carbon loss and can be up to approximately 10% of that fixed by photosynthesis under stressful conditions and up to 100gCm(-2) per year in some tropical ecosystems. Among a variety of proven and unproven BVOC functions in plants and roles in atmospheric processes, r...
